Reviews

Charlotte Whitehead, October-01 November 2007
Volunteer teaching in Chintsa was amazing, words cannot describe the experiences and culture you see and do on this volunteer project.

The children are so happy, always with smiles on their faces ready and willing to learn! If ever you would ask the class, if they wanted to play some computer games or a quiz, they always chose the quiz! Over time, you could see the improvements with their language and understanding what we taught them! It was great fun to playing games and sports with them. Or even doing some gardening to help them grow food to eat.

The experience makes you re-evaluate everything, but with a really helpful and lovely support team behind you, you cannot go wrong. The volunteer house is nice and comfy, Nomakwezi cooks the nicest homecooked dinners every night- what more could you ask for?!... If I could go back there now, I would.

This experience has been the best highlight of my life so far (without sounding cliched). you should really go for it!

The whole trip was HIGHLIGHT!... working in the school, the kids, meeting new, interesting and like minded people (the other vollies etc.), living in the community and being able to really soak up the environment and culture... I could go on and on!

It was an experience I will never forget and left me hungry for more.

Go for it! It's really worth it, be prepared to work hard as there's more lesson planning work than I thought, but it is so worth it because the kids love having you there and it's an experience you'll never forget. Also take every opportunity to do the extra stuff like surfing and safari's because you're in such a fantastic location!

Just a quick note to extend huge thanks on my behalf. I'm so happy I came out to Africa and experienced everything I did. It was a whole different yet surreal world that I now know I will definitely return to! Thank you to every single person; you made my experience all that more enjoyable. I don't think I have ever worked my stomach muscles so hard, laughing continuously! I just wish my friends and family could share my joy and understand what I'm talking about!

If you are considering you should ask yourself what is holding you back!! You have looked this up because you want to help out, and believe me you will help out. Just knowing what a difference you are doing, see the smiles of the kids - just hanging out and playing with them is worth it all. Once you are there you want to stay longer and the staff are awesome. Helpful, open and organized!

GO, GO, GO!
