With February just around the corner, travellers across the nation are gearing up for the event of the year, The Times’ ‘Destinations Holiday and Travel Show’. This year will be the show’s 16th return to London and marks a mammoth achievement for organisers, not only has it become a firm fixture on the city’s annual calendar it is now a must-attend event for anyone considering gap year or career break travel overseas.*
From the 4th to the 7th February Earls Court will be transformed into an epicentre of world culture, with dances, music and culinary masterpieces from around the world on display. This week, marketing Manager Lauren Mackay confirmed that she would be joining fellow travel specialists for three of the events most important information sessions. On the opening day Ms Mackay will be representing both Real Gap and sister company Gap Year for Grown Ups for the Career Break seminar at 1pm. Ideal for explorers who want to know more about escaping the daily grind, the question and answer session is a chance to gather useful tips as well as inspiration.
Ms Mackay will also be attending Thursday’s Travel Clinic at 2pm, alongside representatives from Rough Guides and Lonely Planet. Adventurers can find out anything and everything that they need to know about travel preparation from vaccinations and visas to recommended destinations and essential items for explorers to include on their packing-lists.
Addressing one of the most prevalent issues for gap year travellers, the Going Solo seminar is the highlight of Friday’s schedule; taking place at 2pm. During the session, Ms Mackay and fellow experts will lay to rest the myths and fears that surround travelling alone and help nervous travellers to see the benefits of independence.
