What inspired you to join the programme? Trying to improve my chances of playing first class cricket
Were you apprehensive about joining the programme?
I was apprehensive about not knowing anybody on the programme, but everybody is in the same position and I made some really good friends during the time I spent in NZ. All of the guys were really friendly, as was all the coaching staff. |
How well prepared were you for the programme?
The timetable that Real Sport Experience gave me prepared me, and gave me an insight into the daily routine and activities. The booklet provided also helped with my luggage and the types of things I needed to take with me.
How was your experience at the Academy? My general routine was to have breakfast at around 7.30, fitness session at 9, swimming, gym etc up to lunch at 12. We usually netted after lunch, and then coached the juniors. Although the evening is free time, I sometimes used this to have another net, go for a run etc. The only surprising thing was that not everything was compulsory, and it is left up to the individual to decide whether they are motivated to improve. |

What did you think of the Programme?
I had a great time during my 3 months at the academy, and extremely enjoyed the programme. I feel my game has improved, I met loads of new people, made some good friends and had some great nights out!
What was the accommodation and meals like?
The accommodation is pretty decent; the common room is good with Sky TV and computers with unlimited internet. The rooms are fairly standard, but very little time is spent there, as there is also another common room / DVD room. It is good to have structured meal times, as they help structure the day. The provided meals also mean very little extra money has to be spent on food.
Were you pleased you went with Real Sport Experience?
Very pleased with them, they made the original meeting with the coach and team very smooth. I wouldn't have been able to plan my trip without Real Sport Experience, and they were always there to answer any questions or queries I had about the programme.
Would you recommend the programme to anyone?
I would recommend the programme to anyone serious about their cricket, looking to improve their game. The facilities are second to none, and it is a great life experience.
