Australia Outback Ranch Package
Enjoy the experience of a lifetime and become a real Jackaroo or Jillaroo in the true Aussie outback! Full training is given to provide you with all the skills you’ll need to then go on to work on farms and ranches all over Australia. From fruit picking to cattle mustering…enjoy a real big outdoors experience with space on a scale that’s hard to comprehend.
We have jobs for good horse riders, motorbike riders, tractor drivers, carpenters, joiners, builders, anyone who has lived on a farm, agricultural students and veterinary students…plus anyone who is willing to get their hands dirty and have a brilliant time! This programme is a fantastic way to earn some money to support yourself during your trip and fund further traveling around the country.
You’ll also gain some invaluable skills, memories and life long friends along the way!
Age Limit Participants must be aged 18 - 30 (due to working holiday visa restrictions) Participant Requirements: This programme requires you to be very active, so participants need to ensure they feel fit and able to join a programme of this nature.
Participant Requirements If English is not your first language, you will need to have a good to intermediate level of the language in order to participate in the course for health and safety reasons. A poor understanding of English may lead to failure of the course.
Job Service Throughout the training period you will be given details of perspective employers, receive job offers, and have help in deciding which job is best for you. The job offers that you will receive will relate to your skills and experience and during the training your progress will be assessed to ensure you are placed into a suitable job.
Rest assured though, once you have successfully passed the 5-day course you have the guarantee of a job offer by the last day of the training!
On Friday morning you will need to let the office know of your choice. They can then help prepare some briefing notes and travel tickets so you can get to your chosen place of work by the cheapest and most convenient means.
Although we guarantee you a job offer by day nine after completing and passing the training course, if you decide you want to travel around for a while before settling into a job, then that is fine by us!
You can choose to work for the whole time you are in Australia or mix this with some travelling. Once one job comes to an end, or when you are ready to start working again after a bit of travelling, you simply call the training ranch and let them know you are looking for a job again. Another suitable placement will be found for you and this service is available for up to 12 months!
Please note: The job service is dependent on you passing the training course. This is as much to do with a positive work attitude as it is to do with performance, so work hard, have fun, listen to what your trainer is teaching you and you should have no problems!
If you do not pass the training course, do not hold a full driving license, are a vegetarian, or if you want to be placed with a friend/partner, we are unable to guarantee you a job by the ninth day.
Rates of pay Food and accommodation will almost always be included with the job; if it’s not this will normally be reflected in the wage. On average you can expect to earn around £100-£150 per week…and as your outgoings are generally quite low it’s a great opportunity to save some cash ready for your travels.
What are the benefits of ranching? Besides having an awesome experience, you will learn new skills and be part of a real working farm, seeing parts of the country that most travellers will never get to visit. This will give you a fantastic insight into the real Australia because you will be working alongside Aussies in a totally authentic ranch. Of course, it’s also a great way to save money for going travelling, as all your living expenses are covered.
Programme Support Throughout your stay in Australia you will have the support and guidance of our trainers and staff at the training ranch. They will provide you with competent assistance and help you with any questions or advice you may need.
In addition, you have access to 24-hour emergency contact numbers in both Australia and in the UK so you will always be able to contact someone should you need to.
Accommodation and meals Your first fours nights in Brisbane will be in shared accommodation, with en-suites, TV, fridge, balcony and swipe card access. The hostel also offers many facilities including a pool, spa, sauna, tennis court, and a licensed bar where food is available.
The next five nights are at the training ranch. You will be in shared rooms with shared facilities but the group sizes are relatively small and there is a real ‘family’ atmosphere at the ranch. Every evening all the students will get together for a big dinner and a few drinks. Our trainers are great fun and will be on site with you all the time to answer any questions you may have.
Once you start working, food and accommodation is almost always included with the job. If it is not you will be paid more to cover these extra costs.
