When I arrived in Australia I was supplied with a job within 3 days of arriving. Then I worked for four months in a range of different jobs, from working in a warehouse to working in a electrical store and factory work. In the time I was in Sydney I saw many events such as the Mardi Gras parade, which was an amazing experience and a must see! So glad I saw that especially with how many people were there. New Years Eve was amazing with the fireworks being a special experience to watch whilst having a 'few' beers. As well as seeing the iconic Harbour Bridge and opera house, I also loved going to the Blue Mountains- the views were breathtaking!

I left Sydney to go up the coast with surf camp. The mixture of party and all day surfing was an amazing experience. When I went up the coast my highlights were Tweed Heads/Coolangatta. Not a well known place , but amazing for the beach and surfing. I went to all the main places up the East Coast including trips of Fraser Island and Whitsundays.

On the way to Cairns the crocodile farm was really good, as you got to see crocs up close, and hold a baby one, as well as a snake and a dragon lizard. I was also feeding roos and hugging dingoes. My favourite thing of everything I did was doing my diving PADI course in Cairns. It was beautiful, as well as being able to swim with reef sharks as though they were fish.

Before I joined the programme I was concerned about turning up in a new country alone with no job or place to stay, but once I had spoken to Real Gap I felt a lot better and we went through all the information that I needed to know.

I feel proud that I have come on my own to another country, made great friends and made a life for myself, even if it's only for 9 months. Now I feel I can tackle anything on my own! Sydney met every expectation I had. It's a great city with lots to see and do! I remember the first time I went down to see the harbour bridge and the opera house, it was amazing, I couldn't believe I was finally there!
