I feel proud that I have come on my own to another country, made great friends and made a life for myself, even if it is for only 9 months. Now I feel I can tackle anything on my own! My main piece of advice would be to save, save, save before they come away and also to use their money wisely when they first arrive. My error was going out for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday and not using the hostel kitchen. The money I saved disappeared fast doing this! |

Real Gap placed me working in a resort in the most amazing part in the Freycinet National Park, Tasmania. Located right on a stunning beach, beautiful clear blue water, great for snorkelling, fishing and swimming. It's great for bushwalking too - you have the "Hazards" right next door which is where Wine Glass Bay is located, one of the top beaches in the world and deservedly so.
I spent from November to April in Tasmania and the majority of the time it was gorgeous and warm - nowhere near as cold as people say it is! The only disadvantage is that it is very remote - just one pub and shop, but the staff at the lodge always have a good time after everyone has finished work! |

From the moment I landed, Real Gap Australia were there. I didn't have any hassles allowing me to catch up on my jet lag. My second day in Australia saw my bank account open, my Aussie mobile number, and everything I needed to know about a job including the real essentials I never would have thought of! They certainly helped me survive.
Thanks to Real Gap, I got an amazing job just 30 minutes from Sydney. I was in my element. Of course the weather helped. I loved getting up with the sun. |
