All participants who are not confident in their Spanish are recommended to take classes at our language school, located in central Cusco, prior to beginning their chosen project.

Location
The language school is a stunning colonial building set right in the heart of Sucre’s city centre, only one block away from Sucre’s central plaza.

Programme Information
Classes are held in a 2-story building with 8 classrooms, kitchen, a salon for videos and such, a nice colonial patio, and a small terrace.

Classes are held Monday to Friday, for duration of four hours. Your hours will wither be 08:00-12:00, or 14:00-18:00, and students can start any Monday.

The classes are very small and are specially designed to offer personalised tuition to students learning Spanish as a second language. Each student can work at their own individual pace and level, and can chose the particular skills they wish to develop, be it conversation, understanding, or writing.

Accommodation & Meals
You will be staying with a local host family who are well known by the on-site coordinators and staff. They will speak mostly in Spanish to help you develop your skills as much as possible. Your families will include you in all their daily activities and treat you as part of the family. They will provide you with two meals a day and the houses will be no more than 5-10 minutes walk away from the language school.

Free Time
During your time at the language school, you will be completely immersed into Bolivian culture in your free time and with your host family. So in addition to the Spanish tuition, there are 2-3 organised activities for you each week, as well as numerous cultural events.
Some activities may incur a small additional fee to cover entrance fees, bus fares, and so on.

Activities that may be of interest include:

  • Dance classes, parties & fiestas
  • Theatres, museums and other cultural places of interest
  • Spanish language films, seminars, and discussion groups
  • Cooking classes
