Borneo Pygmy Elephant and Orangutan Conservation Tour
Malaysia The wildlife and jungle in Malaysia is remarkable and you will want to spend time exploring the stunning area with its awe-inspiring mountains and perfect deserted beaches. The programme is on the island of Borneo, the third largest island in the world and a stunning paradise for wildlife lovers. The diversity of the island’s plants and animals is exceptional and the rainforest in Borneo is now the only natural habitat for the orang-utan, one of the world’s most endangered species.
The project is based in the Malaysian state of Sabah, which is located on the northern portion of Borneo. It is the second largest state in Malaysia after Sarawak, which it borders to the southwest.
Weather Borneo enjoys a tropical climate. From November to March the monsoon brings rain to the country. The period between April and August is dry and warm and the coolest months are between September and March. Borneo has an average temperature of 20C - 36C with high humidity all year round!
Free time Your free time in Kota Kinabalu can be spent shopping at one of the many modern shopping centres or at the Philipino Market and Sunday Markets where you can purchase locally made products. You will also have some free time at the end of your programme while staying in Sandakan.
Getting there You will need to arrange your flights into Kota Kinabalu Airport where you will be met and transferred to a hostel for your first nights accommodation.
