Brazil Beginner Rock Climbing Course
Programme Location Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Brazil Covering about half the landmass of South America, Brazil is a huge country rich in biodiversity, beautiful beaches and home to the Amazon River/Rainforest. Every corner of this vibrant and colourful country offers a distinct and unique flavour, making each part attractive and full of exciting adventures for the intrepid traveller.
Rio de Janeiro Rio is known throughout the world as being one of the most beautiful and idyllic cities anywhere on the globe. With white sandy beaches and a year-round climate, the city is welcoming to those who love sports, the beach and outdoor life in general. Here you’ll have so much to do every day, with daytime activities to suit all interests and nightlife that surpasses any other South American city.
Mountains The mountains used on the course include Urca, Babilônia, Cantagalo, Agulhinha da Gávea, Guaratiba, amongst many others. During the final class, you will have the opportunity to climb either the Corcovado K-2 route to reach the statue of Christ the Redeemer or the Sugar Loaf “Italians route”; in both instances, you will climb one of the two most famous landmarks in Rio!
By the end of the course you will have climbed approximately 500 meters (1500 feet) of the best climbing routes in Rio.
Free Time Rio has so much to see and do that any stay here, long or short you’ll be kept occupied. If relaxing on Ipanema or on the Copacabana beaches is not enough, then you can always take part in a number of the water sports readily available at or near the beach. Also, the cable car up to Sugar Loaf Mountain for panoramic views or a trip to see the statue of Christ the Redeemer, are must-do’s whilst in Rio. If you are looking for culture, then the city has a number of museums and if you are there for the nightlife, Rio has heaps to choose from.
Getting There You need to arrange your flights into Rio de Janeiro International Airport. Many airlines fly there direct from the UK, including British Airways and TAM (Brazil’s National carrier). Cheap one-stop options include TAP Portugal via Lisbon, Iberia via Madrid and Air France via Paris.
