Drumming rhythms and the unique form of dancing that is capoeira are a massive part of Brazilian life. This programme is a chance to try them out and to learn one of the richest languages in the world - Portuguese. You’ll be based in Salvador, a city recognised as the home of rhythm.
The Language Classes
You’ll take a course that has been specially designed for foreign students. It’s split into two parts – the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture. You’ll spend half your time learning to speak conversational Portuguese, with the help of various teaching methods. The second part of the course uses films and music to teach you about Brazilian culture and the differences between the regions.
Drumming and Capoeira Classes
This is the ultimate Brazilian cultural class! Spend between two and four hours per week in drumming classes, when you’ll learn different percussion rhythms and how to build your own percussion instruments. The teacher will also introduce you to the basic moves of capoeira, an art form that incorporates dance and martial art techniques.
