The project is based in the Ezulwini Valley in the two small towns of Ezulwini and Lobamba, Swaziland.
Swaziland Swaziland is a beautiful destination, land-locked by South Africa and Mozambique, in the South East of Africa. With a little over 1 million people, it’s certainly one of the smaller African nations, but is equally as charming and culturally diverse as those who share its borders. Despite suffering from considerable problems with poverty and HIV/AIDS, Swaziland is considered to be one of the safest countries in Southern Africa, with its people demonstrating civility and peacefulness to those who are lucky enough to travel there.
Free Time You will have the weekends to travel and explore as you choose. There are various optional activities available including horse riding, mountain biking, visiting local craft markets, taking part in cultural festivities or just simply relaxing in the sun.
When it is possible your coordinator will arrange long weekends and expeditions to places such as Kruger National Park, Mozambique, St.Lucia and the Natal Drakensberg. These activities are available to you at a special reduced rate and are dependent on volunteer numbers, at your own cost. Please talk to your programme coordinator if you would like further information.
Getting there You will need to fly into Manzini International Airport in Swaziland, which will usually be via Johannesburg in South Africa. Upon arrival you will be met by our project coordinator in the arrivals lounge and will then be taken to your project to begin your orientation and settle in.
