Programme Details

You will spend your mornings teaching at a local Pagoda (temple)school and your afternoons teaching at the Floating school.

The Pagoda (temple school is close to your accommodation. There are around 20 children that attend the Pagoda school aged between 6 and 12 years old.

The floating school is located in the floating village of Chung Kneas and boasts a population of approximately 5,000 people. The school floats on the Tonle Sap River, moving up and down depending on the season (the rainy season runs from May to August.) Built in 2003 the school has three buildings that float independently, two are classrooms and teachers’ office, and the other is for sport and recreation. There are currently 86 students, with 5 teachers. This means that the teacher’s time can be stretched and that not all children receive the attention they deserve.
