Programme Details
Our courses will enable you to:
- Transform your personal skiing skills through a high quality and ‘fun’ instructor training programme
- Experience scenic Lake Louise Mountain Resort, Canada’s largest single ski area, and the lively town of Banff in the Canadian Rockies
- Enjoy good standard hotel accommodation at the Best Western Siding 29 Lodge, or the more affordable Samesun Chalet in Banff
- Attain the CSIA or CASI Level 1 instructor qualification
- Potentially stay on and work for Lake Louise Ski & Snowboard School for the season after completing the November course (if you obtain a Canadian work visa/permit prior to travel).
You will have approximately 20 hours per week of quality instructor training provided four days a week from Mondays through to Thursdays, with plenty of spare time to enjoy the mountains using your Lake Louise season bus pass and mountain lift pass. You will be taught in small groups of up to eight people per instructor. Not only will you see a vast improvement in your own technique, you will also be given the tools to become an effective teacher and share your expertise with others. Our courses will provide you with an insight into the service side of the industry, how ski and snowboard schools function, plan lessons, and you will also get to shadow instructors.
You will also have the choice to do ONE of the following freestyle or race courses as part of the programme:
- CSIA Snowpark certification
- CASI Park Instructor
- CSCF Entry Level course
The freestyle programmes allow successful students to teach in the terrain park and these certifications will make you more employable for ski schools. The CSCF coaching course would be available to those who are not interested in freestyle terrain or manoeuvres. These courses are all approximately 3 days in length and can be run during the course. In addition, there are optional add-ons (payable locally in resort) including first aid and avalanche courses.
