Alaskan Adventure - 13 day Camping Tour

We start our journey in Anchorage and travel directly to Denali National Park to view nature in its timeless state. Home of Mt McKinley, the tallest peak in North America we have a chance to view Dall sheep, caribou, marmots, grizzly bears and wolves. Although sightings cannot be guaranteed this park is the place to see these wild animals in their element.

Our campsite is ideally set in a campground on the border of the park. Opt to enjoy river rafting, taking a quiet walk on one of the many nature trails or dog sled demonstrations.

Our next two days are free. Take time to explore the backcountry for scenic views of the taiga and tundra, catch glimpses of the local wildlife or try out one of the limitless hikes. After our three-day stop we begin our journey again on the old Denali Highway across the foot of the Alaska mountain range where we spend the night in a rustic cabin. Experience this bird lover’s paradise while enjoying the quiet lakes. Watch for caribou or even try your hand at fishing for grayling.

After our cabin stay we rise to follow the pipeline into the centre of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Here we set up camp on the Kennicott River with a beautiful view of Root Glacier and Mount Blackburn. Another free day allows you plenty of time to explore the historic wilderness area from McCarthy to Kennicott. Spend your time hiking, sightseeing, mountain biking or taking a walk on a glacier.

As we continue our journey south we climb the Thompson Pass on our way to the coastal town of Valdez. Valdez is the northern most ice free port in the Western hemisphere. This town marks the end of the Alaskan pipeline and is tucked at the end of a glacier carved fjord. The best way to see the town and the beautiful Prince William Sound is by optional sea kayaking, an experience not to be passed up.

After our two-night stop we drive the coast around the Chugach Mountain Range on our way to Seward. This colourful fishing village offers us a great number of outdoor activities such as hiking the Exit Glacier, a bout tour of the Kenai Fjords National Park or fishing on Resurrection Bay. Here we will camp by the sea to best take in the spectacular views of this rugged coastline.

This coast is well known for its population of sea mammals, native birds, the tidewater glaciers and icebergs. We will see this amazing coastline on our included boat tour to truly experience the majesty of the animals and glaciers.

We continue down the Kenai Peninsula to Homer where we will catch a boat to our luxurious wilderness camp. This camp sits ideal on the Kachemak Bay and is surrounded by the stunning Kenai Mountains.  We have our final chance to experience the Alaskan wilderness with activities such as hiking, beach combing, sea kayaking and biking. We also experience the tastes of this region with our very own salmon bake and many other home-cooked meals. Soak up the breathtaking views before we return to Anchorage to end our amazing journey.
