Canada & Alaska Gap Year Tours
Alaskan Highlights - 8-Day Lodging Tour
Alaska is a dream destination for many adventurers. Complete with vast wilderness, numerous glaciers, sweeping views and abounding wildlife Alaska offers an experience unparalleled the world over.
We depart Anchorage for Seward on the Kenai Peninsula via the road around Cook Inlet’s Turnagain Arm. This route has been named one of the most beautiful in the world with its sweeping views and abundant wildlife. On our arrival into Seward, gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park we have a chance at a great number of outdoor activities. Opt for a hike in the Harding Icefields or enjoy a fantastic cruise through Resurrection Bay and Aialik Fjord.
At every turn we have a chance to view the local marine life, some of the many migrating bird and glaciers. From Seward we board a ”highway” ferry through the Prince William Sound heading for Valdez. Relax and enjoy the scenic ferry ride past the surrounding Chugach Mountains that rise from the sea.
We also journey past the icebergs created by the massive Columbia Glacier and many forested islands on our way to port. On arrival into port why not try your hand at sea kayaking to truly take in the mountains that surround this fjord. Additionally a number of hiking trails make this area a great place for a stroll. Valdez is best known for the 800 mile Alaskan oil pipeline that ends here and starts at the distance Artic Ocean.
Departing Valdez we travel another of the most beautiful drives in Alaska, the Thompson Pass. This route takes us past the Wrangell Saint Elias National Park. As we drive keep your eyes open for passing wildlife such as caribou and other native animals while enjoying the peaceful, unspoilt wilderness. Next stop Denali National Park for our three-night stop. This par is stunning and contains the tallest peak in North America Mt. McKinley. It is also home to a variety of wildlife including dall sheep, grizzly bear, wolves and caribou.
To truly take in all that this park has to offer we have arrange two scenic bus tours to take you through the pristine backcountry of the park. This will also give you a chance to see the local wildlife in their natural habitat and to take in fantastic views this unique landscape. You also have many optional activities available to you including scenic flights, river rafting, and hiking and even dogsled demonstrations.
