Project Location
You will be helping in the Red Hill, Masiphumelele, Seawinds, Fish Hoek and Ocean View clinics and communities of Cape Town.

Cape Town
As one of the largest cities in South Africa, Cape Town is also one of its most beautiful and dynamic with the majestic Table Mountain as a dramatic backdrop. Cape Town is affectionately known as the ‘Mother City’ and the ‘Tavern of the Seas’, it lays at the most southern part of Africa and offers a wide range of attractions.

You could take a drive down to the some of the beautiful vineyards that South Africa is now becoming increasingly famous for and try some wine. Take a boat trip to visit Robben Island, which is the former prison where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated. You could also visit the lively Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, with its variety of craft and souvenir shops, restaurants, bars and street entertainment.

Free Time
Whilst on the programme you will have your weekends as free time. There are a number of activities and excursions that you can experience during this time. Some of the options available are:
    • The Aquila private game reserve – this is a reserve 2 hours out of Cape town which has the Big 5 as some of its inhabitants – it costs R850pp and includes a 3 hours game drive plus a buffet breakfast and lunch at the reserve. There may also be the opportunity to pet Cheetahs!
    • Enjoy the sights of Cape Town either by foot near Fish Hoek or on the city hop on-hop off bus
    • Take the weekend to enjoy the Garden Route.
Please note: All extra activities are at your own cost and can be arranged for you by the on site coordinators.

We also have a number of overland tours that depart from Cape Town, which you can do after your programme has finished. These include trips to Nairobi or the mighty Victoria Falls. Please contact a member of the Africa team for further information on these trips.

Getting There
You will need to arrange your flights into Cape Town, where our project staff will be waiting for you and will then transfer you to our project centre in Fish Hoek.
