Cape Town Sports Project

The programme was beyond compare to anything I've ever done. I wish I could've stayed longer and got to know the kids more. But the time we spent there was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and I would recommend it to anybody. The programme was very organized but also laid back. I didn't feel pressured to do anything and felt very comfortable after the first day in the programme.

Do it, but be prepared to get very attached to the kids. Leaving isn't easy. Also, be prepared for having to teach the class yourself if the teacher doesn't show up - they can't afford supply teachers. As far as the football goes, beware that these kids are very skilful on the ball, but completely disorganised!

Be ready to go with the flow. You learn and can contribute more by taking each day as it comes. The relationship with the kids at the school and on the pitch is very unique. I was quite surprised by the talent of the young players and looked forward to being around them after school. Overall, a good program that leaves a lasting impression...and Cape Town is a must to check out!
