Cambodia Childcare Volunteers

Trip code: CMCV

This is an amazing opportunity for you to give the children of Phnom Penh a chance of a brighter future. You will be able to make such a difference to the lives of these orphaned children by providing them with the vital education and care they are in desperate need of. Working at the shelter set up by local people, you will be able to help educate these children through performing arts, language lessons, as well as teaching maths, art and sports. This rewarding experience will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the nations culture, and see first hand how Cambodia is moving forward.

Cambodia Care for Children

Country Information

Cambodia lies on the Indochinese peninsula. With a population of 14 million, it is bordered in the north by Thailand and Laos, in the east and south by Vietnam and to the southwest by the Gulf of Thailand.

Heir to the past Khmer Empire, Cambodia presents the significant remains of this kingdom that reside in the legendary temples of Angkor. Still recovering from its turbulent past where it witnessed a loss of nearly two million civilians during the Khmer Rouge, Cambodia is a very deprived yet fascinating destination that offers memorising sights to explore as well as a diverse culture and an affable civilisation.

Time
Cambodia is 7 hours ahead of GMT.

Getting There

You will need to arrange your flights to Phnom Penh International Airport. You’ll be met by one of our volunteer co-ordinators and transferred to their office before continuing to your accommodation where you will be made to feel at home right away.

Climate

The climate of Cambodia is tropical. There are two different seasons, the wet and the dry season. The wet season runs from May through to October, where the southwestern monsoon carries strong winds, high humidity and heavy rain-though mainly in the mornings. The dry season, carried by the northeastern monsoon lasts from November to April and brings little rain.
