Chimpanzee Sanctuary Volunteer South Africa
The programme offers an introductory level Chimpanzee Primate Sanctuary Management course, which is endorsed by the Jane Goodall Institute of South Africa and by the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA).
Volunteer Role
The course consists of a thorough training programme over a one-month period in which you will receive theoretical and practical training, which allows you to spend the maximum amount of time possible at the sanctuary.
Your training course is run by highly qualified and experienced chimpanzee specialists and field guides. At the end of the course you will be rewarded with a Level 1 Sanctuary Management Certificate endorsed by the Jane Goodall Institute of South Africa.
The modules you will cover throughout your training will include:
- Introduction to primates
- History of chimpanzees on the Africa continent
- Introduction to primates in captivity
- Chimpanzee behaviour
- Chimpanzee eating habits and dietary requirements
- Environmental education
- Sanctuary management
- Sustainable tourism
- Advanced First Aid Level 1
LocationThe programme is located at a Chimpanzee Sanctuary, situated in a Private Wildlife Reserve, close to the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Accommodation and MealsYour accommodation during the programme will be in a purpose built camp, which is fully equipped to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The Boma is an outside area that serves as an entertainment area and an open-air restaurant.
You will be provided with 3 meals a day.
