This four-week programme provides you with a unique chance to experience a wide range of activities throughout China.

The Programme

Not only will you learn all about the culture and language, you will also spend time trekking across some incredible parts of this exciting country and living alongside a local community helping out with their daily activities.

Week 1
Is an introduction to China, its people, culture and customs. You will have several Chinese language lessons and a Chinese cooking lesson. You will stay for 3 nights in Beijing, where you will get to Tour of the Great Wall, Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City.

Week 2
Dali is brimming full of old and new attractions, ancient buildings and indigenous Bai people. You will explore the Three Pagodas of Dali, visit the Nanzhao Grottos and stay at the famous Shaxi village. You will also get the chance to relax with a nice massage or a cold beer in a beer garden and experience the caravan horse tea route!

Week 3
This week you will have the unique opportunity to live and work with a local community. In the morning you will assist local families with farming duties, and you will spend the afternoons teaching English to children at the school.

Week 4
This week you will trek one of Chinas holiest peaks, Jizu Shan (Chicken foot mountain), the climb to the top of the mountain will take approximately 4 hours. You will then stay at the temple at the top of the mountain, and enjoy the spectacular scenery and sunrise. This week of exploring will show you China in a way no tourist will experience, you will visit Shangquing the farming village and see the harvest of rice, corn and tobacco in the autumn or wheat and bean in the spring you will also spend timein the village of Wase, situated on a lake and Shuangland where your adventure ends.

Programme location

The programme will begin in Beijing, the capital of China, and then you will move onto the beautiful Yunnan province in the South.  You will be near to Dali and Kunming.

Accommodation and Meals

Beijing - You will stay here for 3 nights and generally there will be 2 to 4 people in each room.  The apartment is in easy reach of local attractions.

Yunnan - In Yunnan, accommodation will vary, including hotels, hostels, temples and home stays. All accommodation and meals are included for the duration of the programme.
