This programme provides you with a unique opportunity to get paid work in China as an English teacher. During your time in China, you will work as an English teacher, study the Chinese language and learn all about the culture. In the school holidays you will have the chance to travel the country.
You will receive TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) training and certification which will help to prepare you how to teach English in China and help you get the most out of your gap year experience.
During your training you will also take part in Mandarin lessons (the predominant language in China) and have a full orientation. This will include loads of information on living, working, cultures, customs and travelling around. This will set you up well for your gap year in China. After your orientation and TEFL training you will start your placement. You will receive an allowance of 2000RMB per month and a completion bonus at the end of your placement.
The emphasis of the placement is teaching English and the British culture. You might also be able to help out in music, history, sport, geography or science lessons. As part of your duties you will be expected to plan your own lessons, take attendance, correct homework and assist in the administration of the school.
All the schools are of a high standard with good equipment and resources.
