Among the mountains of the Fujian Province, you will live and breathe local culture and study at a martial arts academy. Through daily sessions in Taiji and Qigong you will be able to develop your skills and learn the true art of relaxation. During your programme you will also set off on a range of adventurous and exciting trips:
- Rafting through Shang Qing Stream - bamboo rafting through incredible scenery
- Tour of the Golden Lake- a boat trip including stop-offs at caves, mountains and waterfalls
- Trek through canyon and bamboo forest - a day trip trekking through amazing scenery
- Temple stay at E Mei Fang - after a long half day you will visit a temple and stay overnight, enjoying an early morning tai chi session the following day
- Trip to 9 Dragon Lagoon - bamboo rafting through water thought to have healing properties!
- Visit to Taining ancient town - learn about local history as you visit the old homes of emperors and scholars
- Trip to a Tea Shop -join a traditional Chinese tea ceremony
- Excursion to the Geological museum
Taiji
Due to its associated health benefits, Tai Ji Quan has become one of the most widely practiced martial arts in the modern world and has developed into a number of varied forms. It is believed to aid stress, calm the mind, enhance relaxation and provide a whole host of other health benefits! If you’re a beginner you start by working on the alignment and movements of your body, mastering control of weight and stepping and connecting mind to body. You will also learn the basics of standing meditation, stance keeping postures and alignment exercises.
Qigong
Qigong is a fascinating combination of physical and mental energy, its literal meaning is a mixture of the phrases for 'air' and 'work applied to discipline'; making it a study of work through breath and life energy. The central focus of Qigong is the practice of learning to control the movement of life force internally, using only the mind to direct energy in the body. The discipline also has many associated therapeutic and health benefits, and is often used for relaxation purposes. Beginner can learn at their own pace and get to grips to a range of basic techniques before moving on to a level that suits them.
