Project Location
The project is based in the city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro
Rio, called ‘Cidade Maravilhosa’ (‘Marvellous City’) by its residents is Brazil’s second largest city and its most famous. The city is sandwiched between the sea and the jungle-covered mountains, providing the most beautiful setting, and with the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Rio is certainly a feast for the eyes. The most famous landmarks, known the world over, are the Corcovado – the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer that looms over the city, and Sugar Loaf Mountain, both of which offer spectacular views of the city as it sprawls out to the North and South along the coast.

Although not renowned for it, Rio also has a great architectural heritage hidden amongst all the freshly built skyscrapers – discovering them is half the fun of exploring the city.

Free Time
The people of Rio pride themselves on the fact that their city has so much to keep visitors busy. You must work a minimum of 10 hours a week on the project, in the morning or in the afternoon, but of course you can work as much as you like. Either way you have plenty of time to explore the city. Take the cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain or hitch a ride up to the Statue of Christ the Redeemer, both providing excellent views of the city, the beaches and out over the Atlantic. The beaches themselves are great for relaxing, swimming or playing volleyball and football.

The weekends are for you to spend as you wish and are a good opportunity to head a bit further out of the city to explore the surrounding area. The beaches in either direction along the coast are definitely worth exploring – they are both beautiful and deserted!

Getting There
You will need to organise your flights to the International airport of Rio. You will be met and transferred to your accommodation.
