Get involved in some hands-on conservation work, meet other volunteers from all over the world and visit some stunning areas of Australia. The CVA programme gives you the opportunity to join unique volunteer projects across Australia. Choose from ten locations spanning Oz and allowing you to easily fit one of these exciting projects into a longer trip to Oz.
Australia The culture of Australia is much more 'outdoorsy' than the UK revolving around the beach and barbie lifestyle! There is a wonderful indigenous culture now wholeheartedly embraced in Oz.
Project Age Limit: Minimum age 18
The Volunteer Projects CVA offers so many different projects across Australia so each CVA volunteer placement will vary. We do our best to ensure you get to do a variety of projects or locations during your stay. Normally you will spend either 1 or 2 weeks at each project site.
Typical project hours are from 8am until 4pm. There will be up to 10 volunteers at any project and the group is likely to be a mixture of backpackers, students, retired people and anyone who has an interest in conservation volunteering.
Due to the ever-changing environmental and climatic conditions, you are not allocated to particular projects before you go, the project leaders will decide which local project most needs your help on your arrival.
Project Support You will have the support of our local Australian team leaders. You will be able to ask for help and advice from these people throughout your stay.
Project Orientation You will receive a comprehensive orientation introducing you to CVA, your role as a volunteer, the projects you will be getting involved with and health and safety.
Accommodation and Meals Accommodation will vary from project to project. Included is a combination of one of the following - caravanning, hostels, shearers’ quarters, bunkhouses and camping (tents will be supplied). You should bring a sleeping matt along with your sleeping bag.
All meals are included in the price; vegetarian or vegan diets can be catered for.
Free Time You are free to relax at your leisure when you aren’t busy tracking wildlife and planting trees! The team leaders will help you plan trips to get to know the local area. They will take you to the best places for sunsets and sunrises, and show you where to spot the weird and wonderful Aussie wildlife!
