Name: Dean Marriott
Gap Year Project: Thailand Discovery Volunteer

It's Dean here. I'm just letting you know that I am having the time of my life here in Thailand! I am currently e-mailing you from Pran Buri but I am staying in Ban Khung-Thanod village in the Ko Sam Roy Yot National Park. The village is great, the people are so welcoming and everything is better that I expected! I am staying in a home stay with the head of the village, Mr Lamai, and it is very comfortable. I am loving every minute of my stay here and I have been pleasantly surprised by the accommodation and the amenities available to me.

I don't know if Real Gap already knows this but there is also option for people to rent bungalows at the village, some with air-con and some without and some also have cooking facilities. I think they cost around 500baht per night and they look very nice.

There are caves nearby where the Dusky Langur occasionally come to feed. The "Sai Cave" is beautiful and the air inside is cool and, as it is only 280 meters from the village, it is a great place to relax out of the midday sun.

There is another cave on the beach where the Langur have also been known to go. You can rent bicycles and motorbikes at the village and I have been out fishing on a squid boat. We have also driven to Ko Lommouak Army Base where there are around 8 groups of Langur Monkey and we have had the opportunity to feed them, they take food right out of your hand!

I have had the fantastic opportunity of learning about real Thai culture and have met some very interesting people. Anyway, I must go now but if you need me to tell you about anything else or to send you some of my photographs then it would be my pleasure.

Once again, I thank you for your help in getting me to Thailand and I hope to hear from you soon. I will check my e-mail every couple of days.

Choke Dee Mahk Mahk!

P.S Please say "thank you!" to the Eco-explorer Team too.
