Ecuador Spanish Language School
Ecuador is an absolute must for any traveler, well traveled or not! It is undoubtedly one of the most friendly, lively and diverse places on earth and a perfect place to pick up a new language.
Our language school gives you the opportunity to learn Spanish and immerse yourself in Ecuador’s colorful, laid back and music loving culture, all in the company of other travelers from around the world. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience then Ecuador really will deliver!
Age Limit Minimum 18 years, there is no maximum age.
Our Spanish School The language school was founded in 1983 and is situated in a great location in modern Quito. The school benefits from a garden with a barbecue area, a video room, small library, in-house travel agency and a restaurant/bar.
All participants who are not confident about their Spanish skills are recommended to take classes at our Spanish school. The school is an institution created to offer personalised instruction in the learning of Spanish as a second language.
Classes are held Monday through to Friday from 8:00-12:00 and 2:00-6:00 so you can choose between morning or afternoon lessons.
Students and teachers work one-on-one, which allows each student to work at his/her individual level. Particular emphasis is placed on flexibility as students can pick the areas they wish to focus on, such as conversation, comprehension or writing. All of our teachers are native speakers with a university degree in Spanish and have a minimum of 10 years experience in teaching Spanish as a second language.
The courses at the school are suitable for beginners and for advanced students. Once you have completed 120 hours or more you can gain a certificate from the Ministry of Education of Ecuador (internal certificates for courses of shorter duration will be issued on request).
Extra Activities Two or three cultural events are usually arranged per week. In the day you can visit museums, galleries and cultural centers. In the evenings you can go out to restaurants, bars, music concerts, theatre, etc. These trips give participants a chance to learn more about Ecuadorian culture, but also give them the chance to get to know other students and teachers better, and of course, to practice their Spanish.
Once a week we organise salsa and merengue classes. If students want to take a professional dance course they can attend any of the best salsa schools in Quito (at their own expense).
Once a week one of our teachers prepares a typical Ecuadorian dish with the students. This is a practical way to learn how to make some of the meals that you may have enjoyed eating whilst in Ecuador. You will see the kinds of ingredients used, and some of the traditional cooking methods. It’s a sociable event which gives you the opportunity to chat with other teachers and students in the school, and above all, to practice using the Spanish that you have learnt in your classes.
Project Support Throughout your stay in Ecuador you will have the full support and guidance of the language school staff. You will be provided with competent assistance and help with any questions or advice you may need during your stay.
In addition you will have access to our 24-hour emergency number in the UK, so you can always contact a member of our UK team should you need to.
Project Orientation You will be given an orientation upon arrival. This will include detailed information about Ecuador and the surrounding area. The orientation will also cover all the relevant information about your programme, including safety issues, to ensure that you feel confident and happy in your new surroundings.
