Name: Emma Foster
Programme: Thailand Experience
Dates: 3rd May - 4th June

How did you feel before you joined the programme?
Very nervous!!

Emma's Volunteer Experience How did Real Gap assist you? How did they compare with your expectations?
They were very helpful in answering my questions about the trip. I didn't know what to expect but they seemed very well organised.

What was the accommodation like?
The hotel in Bangkok was lovely - which was good as I was feeling very homesick to begin with. The Eco House was basic but had everything we needed. I was expecting a nicer hotel on Ko Samet because of how nice the Royal in Bangkok was, but it was still nice.

Emma's Thailand Experience What did you think of the programme?
I thought it was very well organised and the guides were great. There was a lot to do (although there were A LOT of temples)

What was the most memorable moment of your trip?
I really enjoyed camping on the edge of the dam on the last day of the trek. It was a beautiful location and we got up early to watch the sunrise over the mountains, which was stunning! Every day on Ko Samet was a lot of fun too.

Thailand Experience Any anecdotes?
I have totally fallen in love with Thailand, so much that I'm going back in 3 months!! There's lots of anecdotes, too many really, but most of them involve Sangsom buckets and a camera!! Also, I would recommend a tuk-tuk ride to anyone!

What advice could you offer?
It's going to be scary, especially if it's your first time away from home, but embrace the experience. Thailand is an amazing country, relax into it and you wont be disappointed!

How have you changed?
I feel a lot more adventurous now.
