With the current growth being experienced in the tourism industry throughout South Africa, the demand for qualified and experienced nature guides is dramatically increasing. The reality is that very few establishments are willing to appoint a nature guide with no experience. This course bridges this gap by training learners in the relevant skills, as well as creating the opportunity to gain the necessary experience to enter the market as a qualified Nature Guide and earn a permanent living in this domain.
Programme LocationTraining centre is nestled in a remote location within a 3400 hectare Nature Reserve, just 40km from Riversdale on the southern bank of the Brandrivier.
Accommodation and MealsOnce you have passed your exams and begin your work placement, your accommodation will vary, as lodges change their needs and alliances frequently. However, there are three types of placement:
- Placement at a lodge (usually 4 star lodges or higher)
- Placement at an animal rehabilitation centr
- Placement with an overland safari operator
All meals will be provided during the course. Breakfast is usually on a help-yourself basis, whilst lunch and dinner will be catered for you.
