Florida Wildlife Sanctuary Volunteer

Florida, nicknamed“ The Sunshine State”, is renowned for its beaches, theme parks and the amazing Everglades National Park.
The wildlife sanctuary is located approximately 1.5 hours from the bustling cities of Tampa and Orlando (home of Walt Disney World). Additionally the sanctuary is located as close to the Everglades National Park and the stunning Sarasota and Bradenton Beaches. With plenty of sights to see during your time off you may want to consider extra travel before or after your project to truly see the sights that this gorgeous Southern state has to offer.
Weekend Travel
You will have evenings free and one day off each week (although volunteers are needed onsite 7 days per week). During this day off you can stay at the rescue centre or you can opt to do some independent travel. Volunteers generally organise activities together for evenings and days off such as day trips to the local cities of Tampa, Sarasota or Orlando.
You will have plenty of time to relax and unwind as the rehab centre is located in a rural area and there is not a local bus service available. It may be a good idea to take books and games for leisure time and in the evenings where you can socialise with the other volunteers.
Getting There
You will need to arrange your flights to Orlando International Airport. You will be met here by a project representative and driven 1.5 hours to the project site.
