Our Tanzania Gap Year Expedition combines adventure travel and volunteer work, making it one of our most exciting travel experiences.

The Expedition

Spend 12 weeks exploring the diversity of this country, visiting National Parks on safari and particular areas of interest, whilst also dedicating your time to a particular community development scheme of your choice. You will combine travel, adventure and cultural experiences to create a rewarding and exciting experience that you will remember for a lifetime.

You will have the chance to live alongside the Maasai people in sight of Mount Kilimanjaro or the Indian Ocean. Take in the highlights of Tanzania when you go on safari to Ruaha game reserve, treks all over Tanzania and visit Zanzibar Island.

Location

The Expedition takes you on an exploration of Tanzania and therefore, you will be located all over the country. You main locations are Dar Es Salaam and the surrounding communities and areas of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The group's base camp is located at Mbezi beach around 8 miles from Dar es Salaam, close to the Island of Zanzibar and to one of the world's biggest game reserves. After your introduction to the language and the culture, you will spend your time volunteering and trekking all over Tanzania, combining safaris and other adventurous treks.

Accommodation and Meals

Throughout your trip you'll be moving around Tanzania and as a result your accommodation will vary in style and standard, from rustic village huts in the Maasai lands, to beachfront bungalows so please remain flexible and prepared to go back-to-basics some nights.

During this time, you will receive meals, according to your daily itinerary. Therefore, we ask you to bring some spending money for a few dinners and lunches that will not be included, due to the nature of the excursion.
