Orientation
On arrival into Quito you will have a full project orientation on the first morning of your programme. This will cover all the details of your programme and provide you with information on:
- Culture and behaviour: you will be familiarised with the cultural norms of Ecuador and what your expected behaviour will be whilst on and off the programme
- Travel: for during and after your programme finishes. Our co-ordinator will let you know what you can do in the local area and what your travel options are for after your placement
- Safety: our co-ordinator will tell you how to keep yourself and your valuables safe whilst in Ecuador. This will include areas to avoid, what to do in an emergency, behaviour at night time and more
You will also have a short Spanish test to determine your level so that you can be placed in an appropriate class for your language lessons.
Accommodation and Meals
Throughout the length of your programme, you will be accommodated in a range of comfortable and secure options. You will spend time in hostels, lodges and in a wooden cabin, as well as with an Ecuadorian host family. You will even spend some time camping, getting back to basics and bringing you closer to the exceptional natural environment of Ecuador. All meals are included in the cost of your programme.
Free Time
Throughout the duration of the expedition, you will have regular periods of free time to fill as you wish. We encourage you to make the most of your time in Ecuador and explore each location as much as possible, soaking up the atmosphere and immersing yourself into the unique culture of this amazing country. Rest and relaxation is also encouraged, as you will need all your energy for the packed itinerary.
At each stage of the trip, programme staff will have full details of attractions and activities worth checking out, and will always be happy to help you arrange these.
Project Support
Throughout your stay you will have the full support and guidance of the expedition leader. You will be provided with competent assistance and help with any questions or advice you may need during your stay.
In addition you will have access to our 24-hour emergency number in the UK, so you can always contact a member of our UK team should you need to.
Project Age Limit
Minimum 18 years, maximum dependent on potential participants’ health.
