How did Real Gap assist you with your expectations and ? Assistance was good. Programme was booked at last minute so they were very helpful. Security that I had contacts in the UK if anything went wrong. Knowing that I had some organisation in where I could go and a contact to help organise trips and advise me on the local area.
What was the accommodation like?
Accommodation was nice. Stayed in hotels and in with a family. All comfortable and clean. |
How was your experience in the destination(s) that you travelled to with Real Gap?
I enjoyed the experience and all the trips I managed to do.
What did you think of the programme? The project was enjoyable. Other than experiencing everyday life in Sri Lanka and helping the children, I enjoyed a number of excursions. My particular favourite was one organised in the South of Sri Lanka, near Galle, to a turtle rescue centre. The site was at a local man's house, which had been devastated by the tsunami. The idea of the project was to buy the turtle eggs from the locals who tried to sell them to eat. Then they would hatch them and release the turtles to the sea. It also provided medical care for injured turtles, who had been caught by fisherman.

How have you benefited from your experience?
I definitely would like to travel more and get involved in more projects, including animal welfare projects.

What advice could you offer to someone considering this project? I would advise them to take a lot of spending money as there as some fantastic sites to see and souvenirs to buy!
Were you pleased you went with Real Gap? Yes and I would recommend them! |
