As long as you have a passion for football and have some experience in the game you will really be able to make a difference to the football coaching in this area. Whether you are a school or club level player, or even a qualified and licensed coach, we will place you in the best environment for you. All you need is a basic understanding of the game and have had some experience playing it, so don't worry about your level of skill. Enthusiasm and commitment are the most important parts of making this project a success. Most volunteers that travel only have limited, if any, coaching knowledge but still make a massive impact to the project.

You will be assigned to one of the many youth teams in and around the capital city, Accra. These teams will range from U12, U14 and U17 with a variety of talent. However, while the level of skill on show in these teams may differ, they are still a focal point for many in the community. During your coaching you will be shown what a vast pool of skill and a passion for the game there really is in Ghana. Many of the clubs have trained youngsters who have gone on to pursue professional careers in the game, both within the country and on the international stage. By taking part in this programme you may well coach and groom youngsters who are destined for a future in top-level football, being a part of that will be a great achievement. This programme is not all about serious training drills and focus but simply to allow more youngsters to play as a team, giving them a structure and sense of belonging that is so important to any aspiring footballer.

Your Role
By becoming a coach in Ghana, you will have the task of running and supervising all training and matches for your club team. Through your training you will be introducing the basics of team play, movement and position holding, to all the players at your club team, which will help them develop rapidly. For the duration of your coaching you will work alongside our in-country team and local coaches as well as the other volunteers. This means that as well as helping coach your team many of the volunteers will get engrossed in the competition themselves and become just as passionate for the team as the players.

Please note: Journey times may vary from project to project. Please contact one of our Africa team for further information.
