Ghana Rugby Coaching
Typical Day Each weekday (Monday to Friday), you will have 2 main rugby training sessions – from 8am to 11am and from 4pm to 6pm. Typically, you will coach rugby for 4-5 hours a day. There are also optional training sessions, which you can become involved with at the weekends. These are held at the local military base in Accra, with children attending from a variety of local clubs and schools.
The hours from 11am to 4pm each day are kept free for time to relax and see the local sites; however, it is possible for you to volunteer in schools and community placements during this time. Sports are not normally played during these hours, as these are the hottest hours of the day; so it’s a great opportunity for you to get to know the areas and local communities better.
Please Note: When you arrive in Africa, you must arrive with an open mind and flexible attitude: In a developing country, you cannot expect life to be as structured as in the West. Africa has a famous saying of ‘Africa Time’: You will find that the pace of life is much slower than you will be used to, and you must use a lot of initiative and creativity in your role to make things happen and develop the programme structure.
