Gap Year Brochure

The rich history of Ghana and its lack of tourism make it a brilliant place to experience the real Africa of the beaten tourist trail. It is a peaceful country situated in West Africa and well known for its friendly, hospitable people. Rainforests shelter endangered forest elephants and colobus monkeys from the tropical climate and canopy walkways give you the chance to wander through the treetops.

Real Gap's Ghana Highlights

Accra
Accra is Ghana's capital and it's biggest city. It is a very varied place with shanty town areas rubbing shoulders with more affluent suburban parts. Accra is a great place to start your trip in Ghana, it is a friendly city that is also great for relaxing after travelling other parts of the country. Many of our Ghana projects including our new Hockey Coaching Programme are based in or around Accra and all of them start in Accra as you will need to fly into Kotoka International Airport to be met by our team.

Kumasi
Kumasi, although smaller that Accra, is a major cultural and economic centre characterised by the continual traffic jams and hectic markets of Kejetia, the town centre. The Ghana Community Development programme is based in a more rural area of Kumasi, and includes a visit to the old and beautiful Ashanti capital and the Mole National park to spot the African wildlife and live with a rural Ghanaian tribe.
