The Grand Canyon is one of the most spectacular canyons on the planet. This mammoth canyon stretches 280 miles in length, and ranges from 4 to 18 miles in width, and is on average, a mile deep.

The canyon is constantly changed by erosion eternally carving new and bizarre landforms. From its white limestone rim to the black schist base the canon is a rainbow of colours.

The Rafts

As we will be covering a great length of this mighty river on this rafting trip we will be using specially crafted motorized rafts.

The rafts will allow us to pack enough supplies to last the entire trip. The rafts are larger and more stable than rowed boats. This means travellers of all fitness levels can enjoy this incredible experience. The raft will also allow us to see 14 days of river in just 8 days.

A typical day on the Colorado River

7:00 a.m. The day begins with a good breakfast! Pack up sleeping bags.

9:00 a.m.
On the river, heading through rapids and spotting wildlife.

10:00 a.m. We stop to explore a narrow and beautiful wash.

11:00 a.m. Vasey’s Paradise is straight ahead. The South Canyon intersects the river. Waterfalls cascade down the walls of the great canyon.

12:00 noon. Stop for lunch in Redwall Cavern.

2:00 p.m. Drift quietly and peacefully down the river.

4:00 p.m. Stop for a hike to explore the Saddle Canyon.

6:00 p.m. We make for the ancient Indian ruins of Nankoweap where we will camp tonight.

8:00 p.m. After dinner we hike to the ruins for a great view of the river below.

9:00 p.m. Camp beneath a magnificent canopy of stars!
