Reviews

Its difficult to explain in words how good the From Houses to Home programme is, and no words can really quantify the amazing experience I had over there. All the local workers are really friendly and helpful and a really good laugh too! Seeing the houses come together, and having the kids help you out in building the house is an experience that seems very difficult to beat. Its brilliant to get involved (and you do get very involved) in the building of the house, and when its finished all your hard work pays off to see the family moving in to their new house.

Don’t think about it, just go for it. Although sometimes hard work, take every day as it comes and just enjoy the experience!!

I enjoyed every minute but finishing each house and moving the family in was pretty special. I loved working with the Guatemalteco builders, everyone on site was a great laugh and I enjoyed learning a bit of Spanish. Having the opportunity to travel around Guatemala at the weekends was also great! My host family were so friendly and helpful and the accomodation and food were ideal.

The programme was so rewarding and everyday was such great fun. The builders are such a laugh and we all ended up going out with each other to celebrate the completion of the houses.

The programme exceeded all my expectations. So many stories and so many wonderful memories. My most memorable moment was handing over the keys to the families and seeing them in the house that you contributed 100% to. Being able to leave them with that is a feeling you can't prepare yourself for!
