Project Location
Antigua/Jocotenango, Guatemala

Antigua
The former capital is situated about 45 minutes southwest of Guatemala City, and was considered to be one of the most splendid cities in Central America before its partial destruction in the earthquake of 1773. Despite the damage, Antigua is a beautiful place boasting multi-coloured singlestorey buildings, tropical gardens, plazas, fountains and cobbled streets. It can even boast of being a UNESCO cultural heritage site! A popular tourist centre with a fairly lively nightlife, and its proximity to many attractions within Guatemala and neighbouring countries make it an excellent place to study.

Jocotenango
If you want to escape the hoards of foreigners in Antigua and experience real Guatemalan pueblo life then Jocotenango is the place for you!

It is a quiet and friendly town just 2 kilometers (or a five minute taxi ride) from Antigua. The town is situated at an altitude of 1650m above sea level and surrounded by 3 volcanoes, two of which are active. The town has all basic amenities including post offices, telephones, Internet cafés, a school, a market, sports fields and several small shops.

Free Time
Extra activities are organised by our on-site staff for students during their free time, on the evenings and weekends, including salsa classes, sports, tours of the towns and happy hours at bars & restaurants! They will also help you to arrange any trips, tours or onward travel, and can offer useful advice as to which are the best to spend your hard earned pennies on!

Getting There
You will need to fly to Guatemala City airport where you will be met and taken to your accommodation.
