Project Location
Alotenango, Guatemala

Guatemala
Guatemala is an extremely colourful country, with amazing scenery such as active volcanoes and lush rainforests. At the same time, Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in the world. Many communities cannot afford to have modern and comprehensive schooling, which has caused many informal establishments to set up. Many children would not get any education at all, if these organisations did not set up, especially in sports which do not take any priority at all.

Free time and organised activities
Free time is available evenings and weekends. During this time you can take excursions to other parts of the country, or stay in town to get to know the community and people more intimately.

As part of the language program, we offer 2-3 organized activities every week. In addition, students will find a daily schedule of cultural events in Antigua and surrounding areas, locations of theatres, museums, festivals as well as tickets prices. Activities include: visits to local areas of interest, dance classes, cooking classes, parties & fiestas, Spanish language videos & movies.

Lilian Santizo, our onsite coordinator and language school director is fantastic and will organise any tours or excursions for you very cheaply! Alternatively you can travel independently in groups with other volunteers living and working in Antigua.
