Helping Hand in Cordoba Argentina

Volunteers will be helping the project work towards its overall objective of promoting a sense of dignity and providing the people in the neighbourhood with the means and knowledge to make a better life for themselves.

Volunteer Role

The main objective is to promote a sense of dignity and to provide the people in the neighbourhood with the means and knowledge so that they can make efforts to improve their own situation. This is a very large programme on the whole, offering a wide variety of projects that volunteers can assist with. Examples of the projects that volunteers get involved with include:

A food service so that people who have great difficulty in providing a daily meal for themselves or their family can go to the centre for food. More than 100 families are now benefiting from this essential service.
A day-care centre that takes care of around 70 children while their parents are at work. The children are divided into morning and evening groups. All children receive a meal while at the day-care centre.
A second hand clothes shop where local people can go to buy low priced clothes that have been generously donated. The donated clothes have been repaired and washed before they are sold.
Various workshops for children, adolescents and adults including:English classes, computer and internet, homework support, cooking and health classes for adults, hairdressers workshop and confection workshops for women.

The centre is quite large and there are plenty of activities for you to get involved in, so there will always be lots for you to do. Volunteers will be assisting in all project areas and services that the programme provides.

Location

The project is located in a neighbourhood of Córdoba City, which is called Amplicación Residencial América.

Accommodation and Meals

During the volunteer placement accommodation is in Student Residence, in Córdoba City. Student residences are located within walking distance of the project. These are large houses with many bedrooms that you will share with usually one or two other international volunteers. Single rooms are available on request and for an extra supplement if you wish.

You will need to budget and cook your own meals while at the residence.
