Although it's the second largest country in Central America, it remains a mystery to most travellers. The pace of life here is very slow, and this is one of the very few places in Central America where you can actually snorkel the reef right off the beach. The diving is out of this world!

Real Gap's Honduras Highlights


All of the five endangered cats of Central America survive in Honduras and its coral reef is one of the world's prime diving sites. Petroglyphs, pictographs and carvings decorate the surface of giant stones everywhere.

Tegucigalpa
The capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa sits in a valley surrounded by mountains. La Tigra National Park is close by, and one of the most beautiful places in the country.

Islas de la Bahia
Approximately 40 km from the north coast of Honduras are the three Bay Islands - Roatan, Guanaja and Utila anr prime attractions for visitors, they are free of any high rise hotels. They're part of one of the longest fringing barrier reef systems in the world.

Utila 
The closest Bay Island, Utila is located approximately 18 miles from the mainland port of La Ceiba Honduras, it's the smallest of the major islands. Utila island is just 11 km long and 4 km at its widest! It's surrounded by one of the largest coral reef systems reefs which is home to an abundance of tropical marine life.
