India Desert & Beach Combo
This project provides the perfect opportunity to combine a volunteer work in the desert and close to the beach! The first 4 weeks will be spent in the Rajasthan desert and 4 weeks by the beautiful beaches of Goa.
You have a choice of India volunteer placements to choose from including working in schools, childcare centres, AIDS shelter and in an orphanage. There are plenty of opportunities to experience the culture and to explore these fascinating locations. The programme includes yoga workshops, a camel safari and plenty of opportunities for beach time and parties!
Rajasthan Volunteer Options
In the desert there is an urgent need to motivate children to receive an education. Volunteer options in Rajasthan are as follows:
- Education – teaching children Maths and English in schools
- Child Care – assisting in local childcare centres
- Extra Afternoon Volunteer options which include: special residential training camps for tribal girls; and workshops for adolescent girls.
Goa Volunteer Options
Here you will give invaluable help to adults and children in extremely poor communities. Volunteer options in Goa are as follows:
- Day care centre work with children
- Special education camps and bridge courses for children
- Computer education to a children, local women, and young girls.
Project Location Weeks 1-4 You will be based in Shiv a small town in the Rajasthan desert.
Weeks 5-8 You will be based close to Colva in Goa on the west coast of India. Colva is one of the most spectacular of south Goa’s beaches.
Accommodation & MealsRajasthan: Your accommodation is unique – a comfortable and clean mud hut with en-suite bathroom! All meals are served in the restaurant area, buffet style.
Goa: You will live in basic shared accommodation 2 km from the beach with simple bathrooms and western toilets. The food is amazing and there is plenty of it. It mainly consists of vegetable curries, Indian breads and fruit.
