Real Gap's Indonesia Highlights

The city of Jakarta (Java)
Jakarta itself doesn't have many "sights" to offer, it is the lively commercial centre of Java, with some of the most exciting nightlife in the world. It is home to the National Monument, an enormous marble column, topped with a gold-covered flame. Meant to symbolise Indonesia's proud independence.

Borneo
Borneo is divided between Indonesia and Malaysia, home to the world's oldest rainforest and an abundance of wildlife including the infamous orang-utan.

Volunteers on the Borneo Tribes-children and Horse project can experience Indonesian culture in a rural community whilst teaching children at the local school, and riding and training the village horses.

Not sure where to go in Indonesia?
The Indonesia Island Adventure programme will take you to some of Indonesia's remotest places on the islands of Java and Borneo. This programme gives you the chance to leave the western world behind and go adventuring with an open mind, explore traditional villages, relax on picturesque beaches, trek, raft and see orang-utans in their natural environment.
