The archaeology project is located in the Mount Scopus area of Jerusalem, Israel.
Israel Israel is known to millions as the ‘Holy Land’ and has seen many events in history that have shaped a great deal of western culture. It borders Lebanon to the north, Syria and Jordan to the east and Egypt to the south. While Israel is a relatively small country, it is home to a wide variety of geographical features, with the Negev desert to the south, and the mountain ranges of the Galilee, Carmel and the Golan to the north. Jerusalem is located in the Judean Mountains between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea. With a history that dates back six thousand years Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world.
Weather Jerusalem is characterised by a mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers, a warm spring and autumn, and mild wet winters. January is the coldest month of the year, however temperatures vary widely from day to night, and Jerusalem evenings are typically cool even in summer when the temperature can rise as high as 31°C during the day. From June to September the level of rainfall is extremely low, if any.
Free Time You will be based in Jerusalem, one of the world's most diverse and culturally rich cities. There are numerous religious and historical sites and museums, to visit. The project manager will be more than happy to help you plan how to make the most of your free time.
Getting there You will need to arrange your flights to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. You’ll be met and transferred to your accommodation where you will be made to feel at home right away.
