Japan Ski and Snowboard CSI Course
This programme is ideally suited to individuals looking to train and work in the winter sports industry, if you have limited time to qualify. Whether you are an school/university leaver or someone looking to escape the rat race and pressures of more regular work, you will be equipped with the primary qualification needed to instruct your chosen sport.
The Ski and Snowboard CourseThis programme is one of the best opportunities to gain your NZSIA/SBINZ CSI Qualification, allowing you to teach up to advanced beginner students (levels 1 and 2). The programme is fairly intense, with less time available to work on your own technique than the 11-week programmes; however, with up to 75 hours of on-snow instruction and free time to work on the technical aspects of your skiing or snowboarding, you will have every opportunity to reach all required standards.
One of the main benefits of this programme is that you can apply for a Japanese Working Holiday Visa in advance of arriving to Japan. This will allow you to do paid ski/snowboard instruction at one of the ski schools once you have completed your course. The coordinator of the instructor programme has good links with many of the ski schools in the area and can offer you assistance in gaining an interview.
The Qualification The programme is designed to help you achieve the NZSIA/SBINZ CSI Qualification.
CSI: The Certificate in Ski Instruction (CSI) is an entry-level qualification that permits you to teach novices to advanced beginners. The course takes 4 days to complete and requires you to demonstrate the ability to teach basic principles, analyse individual ability i.e. strengths and weaknesses, class handling, safety and working with both children and adult beginners.
