Gap year jobs in Canada - Jobs in Canada programmes

Canada is fantastic country to visit on a gap year and, what's more, if you need to earn some money while you are away it's possible to take jobs in Canada when you visit there as part of Real Gap's jobs in Canada ‘Work and Travel Canada - Canadian Working Holiday Programme.' If you want to travel and find jobs in Canada you must be aged 18-30. However, as long as you meet the age criteria you don't have to be a student to apply for jobs in Canada. What's great about jobs in Canada as well is that, if you wish, you can work for a full twelve months.

Real Gap has access to a wide variety of jobs in Canada and you are guaranteed at least one offer of a confirmed job in Canada before you depart from the UK.

As with all of Real Gap's programmes throughout the world, our Canada programme is designed to take all of the hassle out of applying for jobs in Canada. For example, to work in any jobs in Canada you will need a Canadian bank account to set up and will require a Canadian Social Insurance Number. The programme fast-tracks the application process for the Social Insurance Number and helps out with all the other smaller, but time-consuming, things like setting up the bank account - giving you more time to concentrate on the most important matter of applying for jobs in Canada. Once you have landed in Canada there's all kinds of support on hand locally in order to make your arrival for your job in Canada as smooth and stress-free as possible. (For full details about all of the benefits you receive when you apply for jobs in Canada under the ‘Canadian Working Holiday Programme' check out the programme page).

If you do want to apply for jobs in Canada it is important to bear in mind that you need to apply for the programme at least ten weeks before you plan to travel to Canada in order to allow enough time for the whole process. The type of jobs in Canada available range from working at a golf club through to more specifically skilled positions such as carpentry. For a comprehensive list of the various jobs in Canada Real Gap currently has available, speak to one of our travel advisors.

All types of people, from all over the world, apply for jobs in Canada as part of their gap year programme. If you are applying for jobs in Canada the main criteria employers are looking for above all else is simply enthusiasm. The type of person who's applying for jobs in Canada as part of the ‘Canadian Working Holiday Programme' should be hard-working, out-going and passionate about making the most of their time in Canada. Another great thing about working jobs in Canada on your gap year is that successful candidates usually meet other like-minded gap year travellers at work, and the social life with jobs in Canada is generally excellent.

The starting point for Real Gap's ‘Canadian Working Holiday Programme' is the lively city of Vancouver, on the southwest tip of Canada - not far from the US border. Vancouver is an excellent base from which to travel to some of Canada's finest ski resorts, and many of the jobs in Canada available as part of the programme are based in these ski resorts. If you are a keen skier or snowboarder and are looking for jobs in Canada, then working at one of the resorts is an excellent option. All of the jobs in Canada working at a ski resort allow plenty of opportunity on days off to pack in some time on the pistes, and there's usually a lively post-work social scene with these jobs in Canada as well. The main season for jobs in Canada at ski resorts is January and February. However, some resorts - such as the famous resort of Whistler - are open all year round.
