Gap Year Project: Kenya Community Outreach project
 |
Firstly may I take this opportunity to give you a massive thank you for all you help arranging my trip to Kenya! It is by far the greatest experience in my life! I will be returning there without a doubt!
I would like to give my opinion on your project: Upon arrival I met many volunteers, and also Mary and James - my project leaders!
Immediately they were very welcoming and I felt straight at home! My time here was amazing! So amazing that I am now in the process of writing a book about my time there and the great things that this programme does. This book will be published to - that's how much I loved my time there! |
The volunteers I met were of a varied age, each individual bringing there own talents and personalities. Every person I met brought something different. I have got a brilliant relationship with all the volunteers I met out there!
There was a lad called Neil who was 19 and is now someone I consider to be a best friend - I feel like I have known him all my life!
Then there was Julie; Julie was a retired schoolteacher about 60 years old! We got on really well. Never was there a problem with the varied ages.
With regards to the work that Mary and James do, well where do I start! |
 |
Mary is one of the most inspirational women I have ever met in my life! She is kind hearted and very, very hard working! She always put others first and looked after us volunteers like we were her own children! I felt very close to Mary and very safe with her.
James,… Well, this man is a brilliant man! Very, very clever! The work that James does financially for the project is second to none! James is noticed by all as he is always about smiling and giving help & advice whenever we need it. James ended up being like a brother to me!

The lives that this project has saved, together with the help of the volunteers from all over the world is incredible and something to be proud of, and something that Real Gap should be proud of being a part of also! I witnessed so many people who benefited from the volunteers' help in my time there, too many to note!
To end this letter I would like to say that my time at the programme has got a place in my mind and heart forever! I never really experienced any problems and I enjoyed every moment of my time! |
At all times I felt safe, secure, happy and most of all part of a huge new family!
Kind regards
John
