NEW Eastern European volunteer projects
|
When the first cameras entered Romanian orphanages in 1990, the world was stunned by what it saw. The images of starving, freezing, unloved children had a huge impact. The situation has improved, but help is still largely needed. We decided Romania would be a good starting place for our Eastern Europe projects. |

| Orphanage Volunteer Romania Help teach the children English or computer skills, help feed the younger ones, arrange after-school activities and give them the care they are eager for.
Romania Community and Building Project Contribute to the local communities in a positive way, by helping build new houses and help support and teach the children.
Romania Orphanage Building Volunteer Parts of Romania remain underdeveloped and in need of help. Volunteers on this project help to build a children's establishment for orphans in Romania.
Angus Hinks - Turtle Conservation & Dive Volunteer Malaysia
Angus volunteered on the Turtle & Dive volunteer project in Malaysia in May of this year. He emailed us to let us know how he was getting on.

'Malaysia is fantastic!! So much to tell! I have just been on my 1st diving trip now and managed to dive with a Hawksbill turtle and got about 1 foot away while she was munching on some cuttlefish eggs!
The beach is amazing - absolute paradise, white sand, clear blue water, huge areas of coral housing, so many colourful fish - parrot fish, barracudas & black tipped sharks. | Turtle monitoring takes place from 10 - 2 or 4 each night. I have a rota with the other volunteers. You wait watching the stars and look along the entire beach, which is completely quiet waiting for a turtle to arrive - really magical.
|
They take 3 hours to walk up the beach, lay their eggs, make a dummy nest (to confuse predators) & walk back to sea. We take loads of measurements and are currently producing information allowing us to spot trends relating to why turtles arrive some nights and not others, (we think mainly to do with tides).' |

MINI GAPS
We now offer a range of our gap year projects for a two-week duration. This means if you are unsure about a big trip, can't decide which volunteer project to do or are having trouble saving the money for a longer project, you can now choose to volunteer on some of our best programmes for just two weeks.
If you are travelling to a number of countries, these shorter projects allow you to 'hop' from one place to another mixing volunteer projects with travel.
