India India is a country to overload the senses with its mad maelstrom of vibrancy and colour. From the cow traffic jams of Delhi to the chilled out Himalayan mountain villages to the splendour of the Taj Mahal, India will leave you breathless from its fast-paced hustle and bustle. That is what makes the Indian sun-continent one of the most amazing places to visit in the world.
Rajasthan Rajasthan, where the project is based, is the largest state in India. It encompasses most of the Thar Desert and borders Pakistan on the West. It is also one of the historically richest of India’s states, full of palaces, forts and temples making it a really popular tourist destination, second only to the Golden Triangle.
Jaipur, known as the ‘Pink City’ is the state capital and has the colourful madness of the Rajasthan region down to a tee!
Weather As one of the driest regions in India (thanks to that big desert!), Rajasthan can reach a scorching 40C in the height of summer. Winters are also mild and surprisingly, rain is sparse!
Free Time There is lots of stuff in the area that you can in your free time. You can plan excursions to attractions in the local area or you can just use your spare time to relax and enjoy being in India.
The area is full of beautiful temples and places that are important historically and culturally so you can get a real feel for this particular area of India. There is an optional tour to the Taj Mahal, which your project co-ordinator will sort out whilst you are on the project.
Getting There Flights should be arranged into New Delhi International Airport. From here you will be met and taken to a hotel for one night’s accommodation.
