Programme Age Limit
Minimum age 18, maximum decided on potential participant’s health
Programme Requirement Participants should ensure they are fit and able to take part in a programme of this nature.
Orientation After arriving into the Camp, you will have your orientation. This will cover basic Swahili lessons, local safety, an orientation of the area and an introduction to the local community.
This orientation will be conducted by our local programme coordinator and will cover the following areas:
- Culture and behaviour: you will be familiarised with the cultural norms of Kenya and what your expected behaviour will be whilst on and off the placement.
- Travel: for during and after your placement finishes. Our coordinator will let you know what you can do in the local area and what your travel options are for after your placement.
- Safety: our coordinator will tell you how to keep yourself and your valuables safe whilst in Kenya. This will include areas to avoid, what to do in an emergency etc.
Project Support Throughout your stay in Kenya you will have the support and guidance of the expedition leader and the local guides/coordinator team. They will provide you with competent assistance and help you with any questions or advice you may need during your stay. The camp staff will be on hand throughout the day and your leader will be staying at the same accommodation.
Please Note: All activities are conducted and accompanied by fully qualified local guides. They know the areas you are visiting and are well equipped to guide you round safely.
In addition, we will provide you with a 24 hour emergency contact number before you depart, so that you can contact one of our UK staff at any time should you need to.
