The Ranch Course
The course is equine focused and during the course you will learn how to be around horses safely and how to ride or improve your riding. By the end of the week we should have you cantering through the forest playing slalem with the pine trees. If you are already a horse rider you will have the chance to improve the way you ride or if you are a beginner you will learn how to ride safely and consciously.
Here are some of the activities that you will be doing:
- Learn to communicate with your horse and how horses communicate
- Feeding horses
- Grooming and handling your horse
- Horse games and daily rides
- Possible hay baling in the summer
- Ride on the beach with your horse (the beach is so isolated at times, it can be just you, your horse and your fellow riders)
- Daily rides over the farm, through the forest or at the school
- Show jumping for those that would like to do it
- Paddock and tack maintenance
- Fence repairs and maintenance
- Trailer loading and maintenance
What’s Included in the Programme
- 2 nights accommodation in Auckland hostel
- 2 Breakfast’s at Auckland hostel
- 4 nights accommodation at the farm
- All meals while at the farm (family cooking or BBQs)
- A 5-day Kiwi Cowboy Experience
- All horse-riding
- Horse rides to beach and forest
- Activities as per itinerary
What’s Not Included in the Programme
- Personal travel insurance for the duration of your programme, which should cover for repatriation
- All flights/transport to Auckland
- Bus fare to and from Westgate from Auckland ($9.70NZ each way)
- Accommodation on Friday night at hostel in Auckland
- Lunch and Dinner while at Auckland hostel
- All activities over and above the planned itinerary
